31, 31, — 28!

Dear Santa,

It’s December 28th and I’ve recovered enough from the holidays to thank you for finally bringing me the Christmas present of my dreams!

Year after year I’ve asked you to give me my one Christmas wish.

It’s never happened and I wasn’t sure if you couldn’t find my house (yes, I know I’ve moved often over the years), or if you thought I’d been naughty (yes, I probably definitely was).

The last couple years have been a bit different though —

It’s been more than 3 years since I wrote a dating blog post – that should tell you something.

Maybe I just had to serve some time as a “good girl”, even though we both know it’s way more fun being naughty than nice!

As you had a lot of people to bring gifts to, you probably need a reminder what my present was. I believe you called it ‘The 3 Dates of Christmas’. I felt like I had returned to my Bachelorette of Siem Reap days in 2019! You can read about that here https://areyoumymrright.com/2019/07/11/being-the-bachelorette/

But back to Christmas 2024!

My present (well, technically presents) arrived in Siem Reap just days before the 25th. It took a lot of well-timed coordination to make our dates happen. It’s hard to juggle that many balls around holiday plans. Let me tell you more about it.

Sunday. 31. After some very brief texting, I could tell he was worth having a date with and accepted his invitation to meet for dinner & drinks that night. Running late from getting some holiday eyelashes done, I met him in front of his hotel and we walked to the restaurant. Fully booked, we luckily walked in as a table was leaving.

By the time we ordered our first drinks it was 8pm. By closing time 3 hours later, we had worked our way through almost the entire cocktail list while still managing to check out the photography exhibition upstairs.

During our date I could see he was excited to try everything, was open to any idea. Hey, hey! Get your mind out of the gutter – I’m only talking about cocktails and spring rolls here!

When the bar staff donned their caps for bed, we walked to another bar for our own nightcap – or two! Sitting outside sipping our second round of drinks, he started kissing the back of my neck. It was then that I knew exactly how the night would end…

We stayed til closing time, at which point he invited me back for a tour of his hotel. Funnily enough, I have vague memories of only his hotel room.

…The sun was about to rise when I walked in my own front door.

Now Santa, I don’t think you want to know all the details about that night, but I will tell you – he was tall, he was strong, he had a big…shoe size, and he knew how to take charge!

Monday. 31. We had actually messaged quite a bit in the three days before we met. I liked that he made so much effort to engage in our conversations, that even included pictures from a wedding he was at. I felt like he really wanted to get to know me which made me look forward to meeting him. Both having earlier plans that evening, we actually didn’t meet until 10pm.

In person he was just as keen to get to know me as he’d been online. He was easy to talk to, great at listening, and asked just the right amount of questions. I really enjoyed talking with him over the next two hours.

TALKING.

It’s like a kill word when there isn’t a mutual connection. Made even worse when your date doesn’t realize it and tries to kiss you only steps away from the bar as they’re locking the door behind you!

Some dates are meant to be lovers. Some are only meant to be friends.

Tuesday. 28. Immediately both agreeing to meet for a drink as soon as we matched, we still had to figure out the one night that worked for us in the next few days. Deciding to meet Christmas Eve, I suggested a couple places where we could go on our date. He liked the idea of an Xmas themed quiz on at a local bar.

The night before our date he messaged to say he was studying up on Christmas movies, and then the next morning on Christmas songs. I knew he wasn’t serious, but his playfulness and humor was great! I could tell it was going to be a fun date.

That night, we arrived a bit early to secure a good spot. What we lacked in numbers, we made up in spirit! Our team work and chemistry were that apparent, many were surprised it was only our first date! However —

We didn’t win the quiz.

In fact we lost.

Like came LAST.

Did we care? Umm, no – because our date was winning!

It was a fantastic night of drinks, more drinks, a few right answers, but mostly wrong answers, and more drinks. When the quiz was over, we left the bar in search of more cocktails. And some mistletoe that I might’ve suggested earlier.

It didn’t take long.

He saw mistletoe about 50 meters down the road. Honestly, I don’t think it even resembled a hanging plant, but it was sweet that he went along with the idea of kissing under “mistletoe”. And that he waited to do it when we were alone.

We made it to the next bar for another round of drinks, but that’s a bit blurry. To be fair Santa, t’was the night before Christmas!

At that bar, I think we may have talked about going swimming, as we ended up at mine. Or maybe it was that I said I had more mistletoe hanging from my door…

Santa, it would be a bit too naughty to tell you everything! I think less is more here. BUT, what I’ll say is that it was amazing waking up on Christmas morning next to a hot 28 year old in my bed!

31, 31, and 28! My 3 Christmas presents!

Well, Santa – I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about how much I’ve loved my presents from you. It was so nice to be naughty again! Christmas might only happen once a year, but I hope this streak of naughtiness continues the whole year through. And I can’t wait to see what you bring me next year!
